The Cullman County Museum is located in a replica of the home of John Cullmann, the namesake of the city and county of Cullman, Alabama. John Cullmann was a farsighted visionary from Germany who founded a colony made up of like-minded German immigrants.
On Aug. 31, 1975, a dream came true for local lovers of history and its preservation with the establishment of a Museum to showcase Cullman’s unique history. The home’s design was influenced by Swiss architecture with a narrow front porch extending its width, gingerbread trim and twin towers from which, in John Cullmann’s day, flew the German and American flags.
